Utility

Electric Utilities must maintain proper  clearances between electric lines and trees that could cause tree-related power outages, affecting power.  In addition it is equally important to maintain the corridor beneath the energized wires in order to have access for making repairs from storm damage.  Proper maintenance will help insure safe and reliable electric service to all customers.

Mechanical methods are being used to maintain vegetation under power lines.  We at 4 Control have instituted a wire zone-border zone maintenance strategy, which allows for a clear corridor under the wire zone.  In the border zone we leave low growing brush for nesting songbirds and escape cover for other wildlife.  This strategy includes the use of selective herbicides, which eliminate the need for more frequent mechanical mowing, reducing environmental impact and improving safety to workers and homeowners.

In conjunction with proper trimming practices, selective herbicide usage can help insure line clearance management at your utility, making is easier, more reliable and more cost effective.
